Body Image & Self-Worth Therapy

When how you see yourself feels deeply tied to how you feel about yourself

Do you find yourself dissatisfied with your body or caught in a cycle of critical thoughts about your appearance that feel hard to quiet? Do these thoughts affect your confidence, mood, or the way you move through your life?

Many people assume body image struggles are about appearance alone. In reality, they are often deeply connected to self-worth, perfectionism, and internalized pressure.

These patterns are not random or superficial. On a deeper level, they often serve a protective function: helping you manage anxiety, maintain control, or avoid feelings of not being “enough,” even as they begin to take a toll on your emotional well-being.

Over time, these internal experiences can become tightly woven into identity, making it difficult to separate how you look from how you feel about yourself.

I specialize in helping clients understand and shift the internal patterns that connect body image, self-worth, and self-criticism.Many of my clients appear high-functioning and capable on the outside, but internally struggle with persistent self-judgment, comparison, and a sense that their worth is influenced by appearance or external validation.

My work focuses on identifying these underlying patterns and helping clients develop a more stable, grounded, and compassionate sense of self.

Let’s move beyond surface-level symptom management and toward understanding the deeper systems driving body image distress

  • Reducing self-critical thinking patterns

  • Loosening perfectionistic and comparison-based thinking

  • Understanding the emotional roots of body image concerns

  • Strengthening self-worth that is not dependent on appearance

  • Building a more stable and compassionate internal sense of self

How Therapy Helps:

Starting Therapy
With Me

If you are struggling with body image concerns or self-worth issues that feel difficult to change on your own, therapy can help you begin to understand and shift these patterns.

You don’t have to keep navigating this alone.

Together, we’ll begin by exploring your current perception of your body. We’ll discuss what you don’t like, how this affects your day-to-day life, and the limits you’ve placed on yourself because of these beliefs.

My goal is to help you identify your underlying root cause of negative body image, and then take away its reason for existing. By exploring the limiting beliefs, we can start dismantling them, allowing you to live more freely and confidently.

From there, we’ll use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic techniques to dig deeper into the root causes of your negative body image and build new habits that support body neutrality, confidence, and self-care.

Body Image
Therapy’s Impact

The goal of therapy isn’t just to change how you think about your body; it’s about creating lasting change in how you feel and live. Together, we’ll work towards:

  • Body neutrality: a balanced view of your body, free from extremes of love or hate.

  • Increased confidence: confidence that isn’t tied to your physical appearance.

  • Self-compassion: Prioritize self-care and reconnect with who you are, beyond your appearance.

  • Living with purpose: placing importance on things that truly matter to you.
